Steve Mason got the idea to mobilize his optical from his visits to
nursing homes and schools in West Virginia, where he had a store for about
18 years.
"I would see people with these terrible glasses," he said. "I recognized a
need to bring services to various ... certain places where people didn't
have access."
So when Mason and his wife, Jane, moved to Charlotte Harbor in 1997, he
decided to make his business mobile.
"I had a concept. I had an idea in mind," Mason said. "I like to be of
service. I like to be different."
